Comparison with the Metal Detector Glove and Wand
As a little research will show, there are a number of competing products on the market for metal detection needs. In comparing the hand-worn FriskerPRO® metal detector to other detectors, such as the metal detector glove put out by Adams and hand-held wands, we found that a vast majority of people that have used each prefer the FriskerPRO® metal detector “hands down”. Ease of use, reliability, cost, and enhanced level of safety are but a few of the many reasons the FriskerPRO® is preferred over the metal detector glove and wands.
The FriskerPRO® unit does not prevent or slow down an officer’s response to any threat that they may be confronted with while working the streets or in a corrections environment. An officer using the FriskerPRO® will still be able to draw and fire any type of firearm or Taser as well as use pepper spray, a baton, or go hands on with a subject without any interference from the unit. The same cannot be said for the metal detector glove or the hand held metal detector wand.
Wand detectors cannot pinpoint an object like a FriskerPRO® can, they will only indicate a general area. Many times a wand detector will give a false reading because they pick up rebar in concrete. The FriskerPRO® does not. With a wand detector, the individual using it has to place the detector down in order to complete a pat search of the individual. The FriskerPRO® allows the individual to complete a pat search without relinquishing control of the detector.
The FriskerPRO® is not as bulky and cumbersome as the metal detector glove and allows for better tactile response while frisking an individual.
